Reading at home daily is essential for literacy success and another way to bridge the gap between home and school. Once every five day cycle, students will go to the library, and choose 2 French books and 1 English book. In addition, black reading bags will be sent home for daily reading. These books will be at your child’s reading level, and a new bag will be given each week. Grade 2 students are encouraged to read at least 10 minutes a day. Parents, please log the amount of time your child reads every night on the sheet provided that will be stapled into your child's agenda. Along with levelled readers, students will be given word lists. Students should practice these words daily by reading them orally. These word lists will help them to develop a great French vocabulary throughout the year. Please note that students will get a repeat of both book bags and word lists. Extra practice is always good!
